Routes to Registration
There are five registration grades of registrants:
- Registered Ground Engineering Technician
- Registered Ground Engineering Practitioner
- Registered Ground Engineering Professional
- Registered Ground Engineering Specialist
- Registered Ground Engineering Adviser
Applicants are required to be professionally qualified with one of the following professional bodies:
- Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
- Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3)
- Geological Society of London (GSL)
- Engineers Ireland (EI)
- The Institute of Geologists of Ireland (IGI)
Progression from Technician grade through to Adviser grade is encouraged. Applicants may apply for registration at a reduced fee concurrently with chartership or within 12 months of professional review, subject to host institution requirements.
Admittance requires:
- Completion of ICE Form 3930
- Submission of supporting documentation, including two sponsors’ statements (ICE Form 3931)
